The Best
Summer Drive
Winding roads, epic views and plenty of places to stop along the way. Summer road trips have to be one of the best things to take your mind off the daily grind.
The day started with me being under the impression we were going to do the Joffre Lakes hike. A small hiccup and no cell reception meant meeting up with the other half of the group took longer than expected, but we got it all figured out in the end.
Once we did catch the others I realized they were far too fabulously dressed for a long hike. For once I was the (appropriately) underdressed one, that’s a rare occasion!
Luckily the first lake is still breathtakingly beautiful and only mere steps from the car park. A small picnic lunch with the perfect back drop was accompanied by watching the bravest of peoples dive in and take a swim and of course the usual silly boomerang instagram stories.
Breathtaking Views… No hike required!
(I will be back for the hike another day)
This is where we decided to part ways
And continue along the very windy and very fun road through the mountains. It lead us to Lillooet where we stopped for an ice cream and then continued on to Hope and then back to Vancouver. It was particularly fascinating as I had flown over much of this area just the week before
The grand total was a 575km round trip and I would do it all over again. For anyone who enjoys a fun road, this is a trip you should make. Although feel free to turn around at lillooet and head back that way, its kind of where the best part ends anyway.
